Compass (Orienteering)

Postby durango633 » Wed Feb 17, 2010 7:31 pm

I have noticed that quite a few new caches in our area have popped up in the last year that require or partially require compass skills to complete. I, for one, have not had a course on this subject for MANY MANY years and as all skills go, if you don't use them you lose them.

I was wondering if someone or a group that is good with these skills would want to possibly host or at least willing to teach a bunch of us the basics again (or more). Could be an official or unoffical cache event.

I think it would be a good chance to increase the activity on some of these caches and for us to learn a new skill that could really help us sometime.

Thanks,

Don
I would rather go "Toe to Toe" with a rattlesnake in the woods, than chase a micro cache around the concrete jungle.

All I know is from the BSA manual, just like many skills. (I never look in E's GSUSA books for anything. . .) We do have the official scout beginner's compass game. I'll look at it to see if it would be fun for a warm weather event.
